About Us Background
www.consciousness.co.za is an African History & Arts lifestyle magazine founded 2006 by Karabo Mkhabela at the Tshwane University of Technology. Throughout the years, it has grown from a class project to a platform of expression and source of knowledge for a large number of the youth in South Africa and abroad.
Content that is published on www.consciousness.co.za magazine includes the following: African history, the arts (literature, visual arts and performing arts), interviews, event coverage and community interaction. In the process of development, the magazine has become a force in itself that compels the community to look deeply within itself and seek out a self-definition rooted within its own history/culture.
The magazine is well aligned with the youth’s constant search for identity and belonging, especially youth that finds pleasure in the arts and history.
