Vintage queen: an interview with Tsutsu of Wonderment Garments
Vintage queen: an interview with Tsutsu of Wonderment Garments One autumn Sunday afternoon in a quest to rub shoulders with an enigmatic soul I commuted from my hood to Tembisa to go lure a lioness from her den. My mission: to touch base with Dieketseng “Tsutsu” Magabane and learn more about this creative diva and where she gets her unique fashion sense and skill for styling.

Beyond the Surface
Beyond the Surface I’ve always wondered why women shave their legs. Who do leg hairs bother? They warm you in winter and, with the help of sweat glands, cool you in summer – if anything, they’re a win! Every time the question of shaving legs boggled my mind, the rich assumption that silky smooth legs seem to be more a need that bread on tables would settle me. It makes sense; hairy legs are not always a good look.

The lowdown on ‘HAIR’piness
The lowdown on ‘HAIR’piness I’m home on a Thursday evening watching my favourite TV program, America’s Next Top Model, one of the few that can make me turn down a night out in town with girlfriends, there are very few of those because I’m not a TV person, more of a pen and paper book crazy. And I watch this very pretty freckle faced woman cry her eye balls out, because the theme for the day was, “I will make you a model” makeover for all contestants, and her makeover included cutting her very long hair crop short.

Lifestyle Series Makeover 2
Lifestyle Series Makeover 2 The MIND is a battleground. Faith or fear, confidence or insecurity, creativity or insanity all arise from this part of our DNA. The mind is made up of a matrix of interconnectivity which we know simply as thought, which is essentially the product that comes from using our brains – from thinking!

Lifestyle Makeover Series I
Lifestyle Makeover Series I Tips for a healthy heart, body and soul.

Lifestyle is directly congruent to your body and how far it can last you in life. You may be 22 however your body age may be 40 due to diet, lifestyle and environment. Conversely, one can manage their bodies so well that their bodies could confuse time i.e. a 50 year old can have a body that reads biologically as a 35 year old.

FISHERMEN IN FASHION – Interview with H2S
FISHERMEN IN FASHION - Interview with H2S I was somewhat apprehensive as I prepared for my interview with the guys of h2s as my whole angle was not to talk fashion but to get closer to the real Herman Modise Pelo who is the visionary behind the business. I have known this brother for about two years and always found him to be too private for comfort, too mysterious.

Genesis into an Imaginative Mind – Interview with Vestido Rose
Genesis into an Imaginative Mind - Interview with Vestido Rose Beatrice Banda is a beautiful African sistah from Pretoria. She is also a budding fashion designer on the move. Her story about how she fell in love with fashion is as queer as is intriguing.

I was there to document her testimonial during a laid-back afternoon at Africafe Sunnyside where she and I met for a brief tete-a-tete over a vegetarian tramezzini and my plate of chicken wings and fries.

Autumn/Winter 2011: All aboard the fabulous express…
Autumn/Winter 2011 Let’s talk autumn/winter 2011; Aviator/military inspired clothing is big this season with boots, coats and the earthy toned colour scheme: beige, olive green and all shades of green.

Another hot item and my personal favourite the faux fur GILET (pronounced jee-lay) it looks like a waistcoat but not quite.

Hip Hop in fashion, for only the illest!
Hip Hop in fashion Think Hip Hop: the culture, the music and the people. Get the picture yet? Well let me paint a visual one in your mind. I was invited to experience Hip Hop and all its facets. After the week of rain that we had in Pretoria, I was worried that the attendance would be poor for the OTI (Only The illest) /Rosed Blue fashion show.
