Poetry and live performances will always have a special place at consciousness.co.za, thus the magazine has decided to make a more concerted effort in promoting ‘dope’ poetry movements in Afrika and the Diaspora, so please feel free to let us know of any poetry movements that you’d like promoted on the site (hit us up on admin@consciousness.co.za).

We start off in Gauteng, South Africa (2014):

1)      Word N Sound (Johannesburg – Arguably the hottest poetry and live music movement in South Africa right now)

Word N Sound Poetry and Music Series is a platform for the expression of spoken word, not so much a commercial venture as an attempt to make a positive impact on youth in the city
