AFRIKAN LUNCH (monthly)
Every last Sunday of the month, the extended Afrikan Family (young and seasoned) is invited to share a healthy meal (R40), good company and take part in discussion around relevant themes. First serving will be on Sunday 23rd February, 1pm. Venue: eBukhosini Solutions, 47 Regent Street, Yeoville.
KANDAKA WOMEN’S INITIATIVE (monthly)
Kandaka is an initiative for Afrikan Sisters for self development and solution-oriented dialogue for healing and empowerment. The group is now open and will meet once a month at different locations, starting in March. Contact us now.
SHABAKA – MEN OF AFRIKA (monthly)
Shabaka will continue to gather Afrikan Men through creating platforms in various communities, for critical knowledge, restoration and strength. Once a month, the Black Men’s Lekgotla, will be hosted in a different township, starting from March. Those who are interested in hosting an event and/or take part in facilitator’s training should contact us now.
NUBIAN CHILDREN’s BOOK CLUB (weekly)
This is a weekly opportunity for children (7-15) in the Yeoville area to get acquainted with Afrikan storytelling, general literacy, reading skills and self awareness. Every Tuesday from 14.30-15.30 (starts up first week in February). Venue: eBukhosini Solutions, 47 Regent Street, Yeoville.
AFRIKAN YOGA AND MEDITATION (weekly)
For those who need a bit of strength, centering and empowering exercises, this is your golden opportunity. Skilled facilitators will share a mix of toning techniques, drawing from Afrikan Yoga, ancient meditation and martial arts. Every Saturday from 7-8.30am. Venue: Yeoville Recreation Centre (upstairs), crnr Raleigh/Fortesque Str., Yeoville.

Our 300-book strong study-library of Afrikan knowledge is a treasure we gladly share with other family members. You will find books on Afrikan psychology, politics, history, philosophy, consciousness, autobiographies, spirituality, food, culture and children’s books. About BABA BUNTU
Baba Buntu is an activist scholar, writer, speaker and researcher in Afrikan-Centered Education. He holds a Master Degree in Philosophy of Education from UNISA and is currently a PhD candidate. He has worked with Afrikan leadership, education and empowerment both in South Afrika and internationally for many years. He is the Executive Director of Ebukhosini Solutions and Founder of SHABAKA – Men of Afrika. Having worked with youth for more than 25 years, he can guarantee that even the most history-phobic participant will be at the edge of their seat by excitement.
About Black History Month
BLACK HISTORY MONTH is largely celebrated by Pan-Afrikan organizations and entities around the world. eBukhosini Solutions has – in partnership with many other stakeholders – hosted seminars, conferences, film screenings and events to highlight important aspects of Afrikan history over the last 10 years. Internationally, Black History Month was founded by Afrikan American historian, Carter G. Woodson (1875-1950). This annual celebration of Black history was envisioned to both highlight greatness in Black history and to have an educational purpose. Initially launched as a week-long celebration in 1926, it gained widespread support and was established as a full month’s celebration in 1960. In South Afrika, February is a month to remember the legacies of some of our own heroes who were taken away from us too soon. Two of them include Onkgopotse Abram Tiro (1947-1974), the founder of South African Students Organization and Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe (1924-1978). We also evoke the memory of the distinguished Senegalese scholar Cheikh Anta Diop (1923-1986), without whom our knowledge of Afrika would have been substantially poorer. When we proclaim our pride in Blackness and Afrikan-ness today, we owe an immense debt to these sons of the soil. We also give immense gratitude to all Afrikan women who have advanced Afrikan struggles and victories. They have all left a legacy that we must continue towards the complete liberation of Afrikan people all over the world.

Theme: WHY SHOULD I BE PROUD OF AFRIKA?
10 Energetic workshops for youth/students in 10 communities with BABA BUNTU
eBukhosini Solutions in collaboration with Ola Deh and various community partners, present THE BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPEAKING TOUR, with energetic presentations by Baba Buntu on Afrikan history, targeting youth and students in 10 communities and university campuses in Gauteng, North West and Mpumalanga provinces. The workshops will present a thought provoking response to the question: “Why should I be proud of Afrika?” by revealing hidden and unknown facts about our continent, which is often surrounded by ignorance and shame. Throughout the month of February, the speaking tour will address youth and students who often find Afrikan history to be irrelevant and “boring”. Through Baba Buntu’s energetic and interactive workshop-presentations, young South Africans will be challenged to review their thinking of, and relation to, our continent. The tour will include the following areas: Orange Farm, Naledi (Soweto), UNISA (Sunnyside), Tsakane, Soshanguve, TUT (Ga-Rankuwa), Jericho (North West), Leandre (Mpumalanga) and Yeoville. Each workshop is hosted by a local youth organization and will feature poets and performers from each particular area.
