@George,i think that if people are exposed to any sporting code they are bound to partake in it.in our country,we have a problem of facilities for sports such as hokey, swimming and gymnastics and that is usually coupled with our historical entitlement by white people to certain sporting codes e.g rugby and cricket.if township schools had these facilities then it would put at a greater advantage in so far as ensuring that by the time the athletes reach varsity they are already familiar with the sports and in that way enlarging the talent pool to select from for major tournaments such as world cups and olympic games.@Enersto,you make a good point, mfwethu. i must also mention that Commissioner Majeke has a point but he must ensure that his comrades in the sports department are doing the work effectively before makes such statements.

Lol George just like a saying "A blackmen can't swim" lol
totally agree, what Majeke should be looking at is building and making use of sports facilities in township so that we could see more blacks in currently white dominatate fileds.Major townships like Soweto,Mamelodi,Emalahlani etc have millions of people from all walks of south africa but have no facilities.it also can be said by tertiarty institutions,So instead of mumbling actions should be taken to change the current situation.

We have a saying here in the USA concerning our NBA ( professional basketball ) teams. A sport dominated by Black performers here for the most part, and rightly so. "White men cannot jump" the title of a movie and not what I allude ot. That is AWF... or "he is an AWF"... AWF = Average White Forward. Seems for fan placation ( tickets are so expensive much of the crowds need to be white to make numbers) for so long a team had to have a white player or two, so people could see them warm up and little else. I think that is changing.
