The Evening started off as a chilled and socially charged mood at the Stones club at Hatfield PTA. Here I am dropped off in the latest Audi A4 (yeah I wish it was mine too lol), feeling like a fish out of water one feels the nerves of being in a place where I am rarely seen – I have to say for your regular anti-social, good looking, well dressed nerd I was felt like the first day mother dropped me off school. A hint of fear and excitement fills the air and I can only find solace in the sound of Talib and Mosdef’s blakstarr banging through my earphones…when out of the blue I hear sweet voices beckoning from up above – oh no that wasn’t the voice of angels it was even better it was a cluster of soul sisters and thank goodness I could recognize the majority. As I walk up the stairs, I remember thinking here goes nothing. it’s a lifestyle.
It’s all smiles as I familiarize my self with the beautiful people, it’s still early and the bands are doing sound checks and preparing for the night that was to be spectacular. Yes sir before I even knew it the Travellin Blak extraordinaires where on stage, mind you if it wasn’t for that ice braking black label dumpie I don’t think I would have been chilling that close to the stage already fiddling with the camera. The songstress’ lead the way with their silky smooth and soulful voices might I add they were looking smashing as always, the solo performances were breath taking. A few minutes down the line the dance floor is already packed, since I really want you guys to feel what I was feeling that night the following are the exact words I jotted down during the experience (please be warned, I was a bit intoxicated lol):
1 – “Ok this is crazy, TVB has this sound I really can’t put my finger on it it’s an eternal strength and eternal movement…Travellist I am! the ladies have this soothing motherly sound that guides me to the cradle”
2 – “Matthew speaks – he speaks, I hear him echo within my soul yeah – you guessed it TVB is performing their trademark song I FOUND MY MAN…A-Sense enters the scene, the ladies go crazy (reminder to self keep girlfriend away from A-Sense and Tebogo bloody bastards) yeah man Matt and A-Sense are flowing like the river Nile hit after hit of lyrical intoxication we are Travelling and Travellists we are”
3 – “One of my favorites – the drums, oh yeah it’s got this trademark hip hop sound. The guys are killing it. and only then it strikes me Sivu and Khums have been guiding this harmony all along wow this is incredible…it can’t be the beer it can’t be…SO TRAVEL ON THE CROWD SCREAMS…Matthew makes the return with powerful lyrical ecstasy”
A few minutes later It was time for a break, and a chance for the rock dudes Isochronous to take center stage…Now look, quite honestly the only thing I knew about this band was that half of it performs with Tumi of Tumi and the Volume and that they performed at the Four Seasons and friends gig as Zinzi the mastermind behind this whole production explained to my ignorant self. During the break I made sure I took pix of the audience some chilling outside for smoke breaks, chats, others playing pool and sipping on some of that “iky iky” stuff. You guessed it, that was mosdef my que I got myself another black label and I was set for round two of the El Musica.
“Hats of to Tick Tock for yet another exquisite production…The Iso Travellers Experience features Isochronous and Travellin Blak – Live music with 2 diverse bands showcasing S.A music at its best…that night was most definately one to treasure not only was the crowd treated to good music but to a chilled “Stoned” service….visit https://consciousness.co.za/social/galleries/iso-travellers-experience/ for the full review”
