This truly is a lovely INNERview! Matt… you have a way of capturing the essence of a conversation so we (the readers) feel like we were a part of it. I love the honesty and sometimes awkwardness (like the motherland question) that comes with new encounters and getting to know each other.

Myesha: I continue to be an inspired fan. Much respect sista! (And I feel you on the no tolerance for bad poetry!)

Great job Matt!

I recently traveled to South Africa and had Myesha as my guide.
I can personally attest to the fact that she helps people grow and expand their vision. I still read daily the South Africa news. Not only do you have a talented poet in Myesha, she is a great ambassador to the world, teaching so many others about your beautiful, (and wounded) country. It was an experience I will never forget.
Bravo!!

This is probably the best interview I've ever done and you really captured the feeling, Matt. Just a warm, free-ranging convo about all kinds of things. Lots of threads could be explored in more depth, that's for sure.

EL, I've never thought of a legacy - I live so I'm gonna die. But ...

First, hopefully there will be products that speak for me - books, cds, videos, articles

Second, I'd like people to remember that i stood for women, defended black and poor people.

Then, I encouraged writers, poets in particular, to tell their truth, to be authentic in their work. Everyone has a right to their voice.

That I supported other people to grow, to expand their vision, to be open with their spirit.

That I sought to build community, to bring like-minded people together to reflect, to create, to share, to change.

Love, peace, sharing, tolerance, creativity, joy, acceptance, honesty, beauty.
