Every writer has a philosopholy that rides behind their work I personally believe that poetry is a diverse form, as Vonani Bila pointed out in the prelude to ‘Avalon’, poetry is the mother of all art’ so written poetry, slam poetry, rap are all branches of poetry. That being said the issue of relevance comes into play so when I get on stage and slam I make sure I wrote that piece for that audience the slam crowd as much as I cannot sell you an anthology and put in content that I would spit into a ‘Parental Advisory’ labelled album, sure I can spit some of my ‘literary’ works on stage but it doesnt get the same effect as much as the poetry I create for stage does not have the same effect without the dramatic gestures and the likes on stage.
