Artist Statement
Kabelo works with reclaimed materials such as brown paper, cotton and wood with mixed media. His source of inspiration comes from his overcoming of daily life challenges and music as he finds it very therapeutic.
He is also inspired by the view of the world around him be it the people, nature, sound and books(knowledge seeking), in terms of overcoming challenges we as people go through on daily basis and always finding a way to be triumphant in whatever we peruse. His use of reclaimed materials such as brown paper show how he overcomes the challenges of not being able to afford art materials but instead uses the reclaimed materials to make art and give it a new lease on life and at the same time turn them into a masterpiece.
