Early Career
Madala started writing his raps in 2003 and started recording in 2006 with Thando “Dj Morisky” Dyonase as his first producer/beat-maker. They produced music together for two years, featuring Madala in his mixtapes titled Motswako Mixtape Vol. 1 & Motswako Mixtape Vol. 2.
In 2009, Madala was part of a hip hop group called Tsa Kasi. Together they experimented with an authentic Motswako sound, winning them an opening performance for Tuks Senganga at Thys Joint in Klerksdorp & performing at the 2010 World Cup Trophy Tour at the Oppenheimer Stadium in Orkney.
In 2011 Madala formed a crew with his friends and fellow rappers Mpumi “Zslur” Mbele and Thabiso “SteakZozo” Liphuko, and they named it The Wristbann‟d. This rap trio performed in and around Klerksdorp showcasing a unique feel of poetic and conscious hip hop.
In early 2012, Madala started working at Surreal Studios which is founded by producer, engineer and artist Mohau “Zilla” Seotsanyana. He formed part of the Surreal Band which comprised of Mbali Buthelezi, who was the lead vocalist and guitarist; Mohau “Z|illa” Seotsanyana, who played the cajon; Hope Maine who was the male lead and backing vocalist; with Madala & Clement “Mo-Mofero” Mazabane as the rappers. They performed at vibrant venues all around Joburg, like Kitcheners Carvery Bar in Braamfontein, Sophiatown Bar Lounge in Melville, The Swiss Hotel School in Randburg, University of Johannesburg (Kingsway Campus) in Aucklandpark, and were invited to showcase at the annual Melville 7th Avenue Music Festival.
Music Career
Madala ventured for a solo career with hits like “The Comeback” getting him a nomination at the MEMAs (Matlosana Entertainment & Music Awards) in 2012 & 2013, & “High” winning him The Best Hip Hop Song & Best Music Video Awards at the MMUSA Provincial Awards 2015. He has also performed at the awards‟ ceremonies numerous times.
In 2014, Madala became one of the main performers of the event Basecred Dance competition hosted by Innovators Marketing Company and Alucious “Lucai Boy Motsumi at the Tower Mall in Jouberton. He also performed at the Mr, Miss & Little Miss Tower Mall 2014. He was one of the opening acts for Cassper Nyovest – alongside Joseph “K-N9ne” Salameh and Alucious “Lucai- Boy” Motsumi – hosted by Afrolime Night Club.
Madala has earned the respect and recognition of fans in his hometown of Matlosana (Klerksdorp), and has been interviewed countlessly on the local radio station Star Fm and, been featured in numerous editions of the local magazine Moja Magazine.
He is now working on his first solo E.P, which will feature K-N9ne and Trio Fuse of the group Hustle Junkie with amazing production from Nash Beats of Well Acquainted Records, Noxious of Noxious Entertainment and Dj Bling of Hustle Junkie. The E.P will be titled „Pop B4 Pop – The E.P Party Edition‟ which is due to be released in mid-2015. In the spring of 2015, Madala is due to release a mixtape titled „Pop B4 Pop 7/11‟. It will boast of crowd movers, party and club music with a mix of pantsula and consciousness.
In addition to his talents; Madala is starring in a locally produced movie called Life‟s Hurdles – alongside Alucious Lucai Boy Motsumi – playing the role of an upcoming rapper struggling to make it into the industry. There‟s no limit to what this young talented and skilled individual can do!
