Over the years, the Sub-Saharan region has been deemed the worse hit region as regards to HIV/AIDS infections with an estimated 22.4 million adults and children living with HIV in the sub-Saharan Africa at the end of 2008. During that year, an estimated 1.4 million Africans died from AIDS. Around 14.1 million children have lost one or both parents to the epidemic. In 2008, sub-Saharan Africa accounted for 67% of HIV infections worldwide, 68% of new HIV infections among adults and 91% of new HIV infections among children. The region also accounted for 72% of the world’s AIDS-related deaths in 2008. (Sub-Saharan HIV/AIDS Statistics)
It is recorded that South Africa alone has the highest number of people infected globally, estimated at around 5.7 million, including 300 000 children under the age of 15 years; and this was only in 2007. The UNAIDS 2008 Global Report, estimated that in 2007, 350 000 people died from AIDS in South Africa. South Africa is regarded as having the most severe HIV epidemic in the world. The province of Kwa-Zulu Natal continues to have the highest prevalence at 39.1% followed by Mpumalanga at 34.8%. (Source NSP 2007-11, AIDS Foundation South Africa)
Now, the above statistics will only increase if we continue in our hunger for constant sex and ignorance without regard to self tolerance. There are several ways in which we can be infected by HIV/AIDS but the situations that breaks my spirit is those that get infected through abuse. In this case, abuse becomes a broad word. You thinking, rape? Yeah, you right. An innocent soul’s life can change drastically due to rape. I am talking about that faithful young woman who has dreams to one day have children and a decent career. That young woman that has so much love for that guy she doesn’t know is a loose cannon. He has no sense of morals; every woman he comes across is meat to devour. Now, the poor lady is so in love she won’t even listen when her friends tell her to leave her man. Before you know it, you are infected. You become another statistic.
The HIV/AIDS statistics in South Africa alone are radically high and I believe it can’t be ignorance alone but there is a spirit behind. Children are orphaned; left alone to raise each other and bury each other. These kids can’t leave on government ARVs, they need healthy food. When will a man realise his God given purpose on earth which is to seek God’s face and fearing Him? When will a man realise that he is the protector of the vulnerable? When will a man differentiate a male and man? Because a male is driven by hormones and ego; a male represents weakness in the mind. And a man is a father, a brother, an uncle that will not look at a woman as an instrument of sex but looks at her and see the miraculous works of God in them. Woman and children need real man to protect them from this disease that kills millions of people every year.
If you believe in the spiritual realm you will realise that HIV/AIDS is a demonic spirit that seeks to steal, murder and destroy. Simple arithmetic says, one plus one is two but in the spirit world one plus one is one. When you sleep with a person, there is a spiritual bond; that is why in most cases we get angry when we are cheated on. There is already a covenant. Sleeping with more than one partner is simple fornication. The word of God in 1Corinthians 6:17 – 20 says: “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man does is without the body; but he that commits fornication sins against his own body. What? Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which was given to you by God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which belongs to God.”
Now, we now know what God thinks or says about having more than one partner; we sin against the body. Paul wrote a letter: Romans 12:1 – 5 saying “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: Rom 12:5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” It continues in 1Corinthians 12:12; and it says “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”
Beloved, I am not trying to scare you but to open your spiritual eyes. Marriage was constituted by God for both man and woman. Statistically, condoms are 70% safe and the rest of the 30% is still open to infections. Beloved, instead of practicing safe sex, save sex. Save sex for that one man that will marry you. Beloved it is not stupidity if a guy talks you into a relationship and you tell him; “no sex before marriage.” You are saving your life and keeping your dignity.
Be blessed
Save Sex,
