There is a passage that I read in the Bible which proves to be a reality in our lives. We have made a lot of blunders in decision making which we regret dearly; we get ourselves into situations wherein we don’t know how to get out. “My people shall perish because of lack of knowledge.” It’s a simple passage when you read but when you look in too deep and look around, it becomes much clearer as to our own lives. Imagine we had the power to know an outcome of every decision we make, Imagine we all knew what to expect in life to come, Imagine every destiny was drawn up clearly after birth. Now the question that I ask of you is; would you still live the way you live with all the knowledge of what will take place in your life here on earth and herein after? I know I wouldn’t.
A story of a man lying by the pool comes to mind. This man could not walk for 38years; he just lay there by the pool. He did not know that he will be healed after 38years of sickness. There was also the woman with the issue of blood that went on for a period of twelve years; after using up all her finances to get help from doctors, didn’t know she had to touch the hem of His garment to receive her healing. The man lying by the pool couldn’t walk; he just lay there when other people were stumbling over him to get into the pool for their healing. Jesus came by and stopped to talk to the man. Jesus said to him; “what would you want me to do for you?” the man said; “Sir I have no one to put me into the pool so I may be whole again.” This is what we usually do to God. He is always available to help us but when He talks to us we give Him the wrong answers just like the man by the pool did or we simply don’t hear Him talking to us. Jesus healed that man after he lay there for 38years.
But I adore what the woman with the issue of blood did when she heard that Jesus is around town. She knew and had been nursing her condition for twelve years. It’s as though I can hear her say, “It’s do or die.” She said to herself, “only if I can touch the hem of His garment.” It was crowded and everyone was pushing through to see this Jesus. Everybody was touching Him but when the woman touched only His garment, Jesus stopped. He said to His disciples, “someone touched me.” They were confused and said to Him, “but master, look around you, everyone is pushing and touching you.” He said to them, “no, someone touched me, for I felt power getting out of me.” In that instant, the woman came forth and said to Him, “it is I who touched you” and He said unto her, “go in peace, your faith has made you whole.”
This brings into remembrance, the book of Mark 10:46 – 52. It says; “And they went to Jericho with His disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.” And suddenly he heard a crowd of people pushing, pushing, the voices getting louder and louder. And he said “what’s happening? What’s happening?” another man said to Bartimaeus “don’t you know? The man called Jesus Christ of Nazareth is around town.” It’s like I see this man, agitated, panicking. He can’t see and he feels it’s time he stopped begging and receives healing.
This man can’t see, and the crowd grew closer, closer; the voices grew louder, louder; the stampede, the people clapping hands; the people shouting Hallelujah, the people shouting Glory, they were getting closer. And Bartimaeus heard that Jesus, was around; he cried “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Son of David have mercy on me.” The bible says they tried to stop him saying “you’re making noise.” You see, when you go through problems, family will say you’re making noise, friends will leave you. They say you’re boring them. This man was determined in his heart, “No one will tell me to keep quiet” he said. Remember that this man has never seen the sun shine, but today; he was going to see the Son of God. And he cried “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus Son of David have mercy on me.” You can call Him today Jesus, in your problems; Jesus, in your situation; Jesus, in your sickness; Jesus, in your poverty; Jesus, in your lack; the bible says, “come ye all that are heavily laden and I will give you rest.”
And guess what? Jesus stopped. The bible says, “He stood still.” Imagine, you call on Him and He stops everything just to attend to you and listens to your problem. And He said “whose calling me?” and Jesus said; “What do you want me to do unto you?” and Bartimaeus said, “Oh Jesus, Just to receive my sight.” And Jesus said, “It is done unto you according to your faith.” Beloved, go unto Him with your heavy heart and He will give you rest. Trust Him to heal you of all sicknesses because His name is above all other names. His name is Jesus. Be blessed.
