As we draw near to Easter Holidays, we tend to forget the significance of the anointed day. We throw endless parties and misbehave in all manner there is. The death toll escalates during this period of the year. Could it be because we do not know what the Easter Holiday is all about? Beloved, taking you back to history, your spiritual eyes can be open for you to grasp into what Easter means and what it is all about.

It came to pass that men lost their possession in the eyes of God through sin. Men became cursed and the devil took control. Now God, because of His merciful character; the book of John 3:14 – 17 says: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: John 3:15 that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” And the only way men was going to regain his possession was for Jesus to die on the cross of Calvary. When Jesus was about to be captured by the High Priests He said to His disciples in the book of Mathew 26:38; “My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.” Mathew 26:39 says: “And He went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but let your will be done.” Even though He knew it is time, He was still prepared to die so we may live.

Mathew 26 from verse 47 says: “And while He was speaking; Judas, one of the twelve, came with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. Mathew 26:48 now he that betrayed Him (Judas) gave them a sign, saying, whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is He: hold Him fast. Mathew 26:49 and forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed Him. Mathew 26:50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took Him.” His disciples wanted to fight for Him but Jesus said “Don’t you think that I can just pray to my Father, and He shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?” In these words He was showing them that He really did come to be crucified and not to be glorified.

It came to pass that he was brought before Pilate where the Chief Priests accused Him of blasphemy, in that He said He is the Son of God. They wanted Him to be crucified and Pilate said unto Jesus: “Don’t you know that I have power to crucify you and power to release you? Jesus responded in saying: “You have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.” Jesus was found guilty to death by the Chief Priests and Pilate told the people to do as they will as he saw no guilt in Jesus. Jesus was then beaten and got His body ripped into shreds; He was spit on so we may have ever lasting life. It’s like I can hear the devil saying: “I got Him where I want Him” not knowing that, that is where Jesus wanted to be. Jesus had to be beaten, humiliated, stripped off, stoned and whatever torture men are capable to cause on a man.

Jesus was then taken to a place called Golgotha to be crucified with two other men. There He was nailed to the cross and hung up for the whole city to witness. And Jesus said with a loud voice: “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” And that is to say; “Father, Father, Why have you forsaken me?” At this point God even turned His back on His own Son because of our sinful nature. One of the men that was also on the cross said unto Jesus: “If you are Christ, save yourself and us.” But the other answering rebuked him, saying: “do you not fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? Luke 23:41 and we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. Luke 23:42 and he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. Luke 23:44 and it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. Luke 23:45 and the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. I can hear His voice saying “Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.” Even in His agony, He still prays unto God the Father for our forgiveness. In John 19:28 Jesus says “I Thirst.” They then put vinegar on a sponge and gave Him to drink (John 19:30 when Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said; “It is finished,” and He bowed His head, and gave up His spirit).

Beloved, perceive this day of Easter to be the most anointed day of the year. I want you to know that it was by His sacrifice that salvation has been extended to men. Let Easter be a day where you cannot afford not to bow down and say “Father You are worthy of my worship.” Because we can’t get so advanced that we forget the cross of Calvary, we can’t get so progressive that we forget it was the cross that saved us, it was the cross that purchased our salvation; and it was His death on the cross that made delivered us so we may have a right to salvation and eternity.

Be blessed.
